Customer Service Academy

The Customer Service & Sales Academy is based on Disney’s approach to Quality Service, and prepares individuals for careers with local retailers and wholesalers; service, hospitality, entertainment and tourism providers; in both the for-profit and non-profit industries. Graduates often pursue front-line and administrative positions in sales, cashiering, customer service, and help desk as well as many others. Urban League's team of professional Employment Coaches work closely with both graduates and employers to provide career counseling, retention support, and advancement assistance. Graduates of the program can expect to find jobs that provide a living wage, health insurance, and other benefits.

The Customer Service & Sales Academy targets careers in the following ares: Retail Sales, Cashier, Hostess, Barista, Wait-service, Catering, Reception, Customer Support Services, Customer Service Desk, Help Desk, Telephone Sales and Order Taking, and most other careers involving public interaction.

This academy is a 5-week course consisting of 16 hours per week of classroom training. Participants gain applied knowledge of:

  • Critical Listening
  • Critical Thinking
  • Survey Creation
  • Problem Identification
  • Trouble Shooting
  • Customer Surveying
  • Role Playing
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Data Analysis
  • Call Center Operations

Program Requirements:

In order to attend the Customer Service & Sales Academy, participants must complete the Urban League’s Foundations Work Readiness Academy. This 5 week training program will give you the skills to find and keep a job in today’s economy. The Customer Service Academy is designed for individuals currently unemployed or underemployed with an expressed interest in customer or consumer service positions in a for-profit or non-profit environment. The program is also appropriate for those who are seeking new employment or career advancement opportunities in this sector.
