The Latino Academy of Workforce Development and Urban League of Greater Madison have an internship program in partnership with the Dane County Highway Department. The internship prepares adults for their class A Commercial Driver’s License, allowing them to operate big trucks and other commercial vehicles. The program is intended to not only assist with an important asset to being eligible for employment, but to also develop and enhance the skills of candidates so they will be highly competitive when they apply for job openings in Dane County. Qualified candidates attend a 6-month internship – after which only qualified candidates get a job with them.
