Outstanding Young Person Award Nominations

Now Accepting Applications for 2021 MLK Outstanding Young Person Awards

Each year the Urban League of Greater Madison celebrates the achievements of outstanding young men and women across Dane County in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. While the current public health conditions, and the conditions anticipated in January may prevent us from hosting our annual MLK Youth Recognition Breakfast, the Urban League remains committed to recognizing the youth of Dane County. More details on what form that recognition will take will be shared as we get closer to MLK Day, but for now we need your help identifying outstanding young people at your school(s) who warrant recognition for their accomplishments in and out of the classroom.

Nominations are accepted from any Dane County middle or high school. Nominees are selected based on their academic performance, engagement in their school community, and volunteer service outside of school. A maximum of two students from each grade at each Dane County middle or high school will be awarded Outstanding Young Person Certificates. All Dane County schools (public or private) are eligible and encouraged to nominate students.

To nominate a students, complete the form below by 5:00pm on Friday, December 11, 2020. If you have any questions about the nomination process, please contact Andrew Schilcher at 608-729-1225 or [email protected]
